Due to a safety inspection of the track at Helsby (HSB):
Services may be delayed by up to 18 minutes.
We expect the incident to last until 12:00 and disruption to services is expected until 12:00.
What's Happened?
For safety, train services will be running more slowly than normal through the area at Helsby between Chester and Manchester Airport, with residual delays of around 20 minutes to be expected.
Due to the impact on our services, we have been terminating and restarting our services at Manchester Piccadilly.
Please continue to travel as planned, but expect delays and cancellations on your journey.

Alternative Travel Options
Your ticket can be used on the following alternative routes to help you complete your journey, with the Train Operating Companies listed below at no extra cost:
- Northern between Manchester Airport and Manchester Piccadilly in both directions.
These arrangements are in place on services until 12:00.
Alternatively, customers can use their tickets between Chester and Manchester Piccadilly via Crewe at no extra cost.
If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.
